2) Free talk

T: Boys and girls, I can run, I can jump. What about you? What can you do?

2. Presentation

  1) Introduce a new friend Judy to the students.

T: Boys and girls, you can do so many things. You are so great. Now I want to introduce my friend to you. She is great, too. Look, she is coming! Judy lives in the zootopia. She has many friends, let’s go and see.

 

2) Learn the new words/phrases and the sentences.

Shows the picture of a pig.The teacher asks the students “ What can he do”?

Students answer “He can play ping-pong.”(Practice reading the new phrase”play ping-pong”.)

T: Can you play ping-pong?

S: Yes, I can./ No, I can’t.

   Learn”swim”,”play ping-pong”,”play basketball”,”speak English” in the similar way.

 

3. Practice& Extension

Finish the tasks, then you can join the Judy’s family.

Task 1: Catch the plane

Task 2: Guess, guess, guess.

Task 3: I act, you guess.

Task 4: Pair work

Task 5: Write and say

 1) Ask one student read the text.

2) Discuss what Saran can do and what Saran cannot do.
      S1: What can Sarah do?

S2: She can speak English and Chinese, sing English song, dance, swim, cook and play ping-pong.

S1: What can’t Sarah do?

S2: She can’t do any kung fu. She can’t play the pipa.

3) Write down the things you can do and cannot do.

 

4. Summary

Summarize the new words/phrases/sentence patterns and evaluate the performance of students.

 

5. Homework

1) Listen to the tape, read Part B let’s learn

2) Talk about what you can do and what you cannot do with your classmates.
