Ⅰ.The Analysis of teaching material
The teaching material is the Storytime part of Unit 4 ,Grade 5 from PEP. The topic of this unit is “ What can you do? I can…..”. The reading is about an interesting story between a rat and a snake. A series of pictures are used to aid teaching.

II. The Analysis of learning condition
The students are in Grade 5. They have learned the basic words and expressions about what what they can and cant’t do.

III. Learning Objectives:
1. Knowledge Objectives:
To help students listen , read and use the words and phrases about what they can do and use the sentence pattern “ What can you do? I can……”

2. Ability Objectives:
To help students understand the main idea and the basic plot in the story.
To help students get the main idea of the story by reading pictures in the
story.
To improve students ability to know the feelings of the characters in the story and imitate their reading.

3. Moral Objective:
To help students to understand the feelings inside the rat and the snake.

To improve students’ imagination to infer the story and give an ending to the story.

To help students to know how to be wise in danger.

IV. Teaching key points
1. To learn the key words and the target language
swim, dance, sing, throw, tasty, rat

V. Teaching difficult points
1. To enable students why the rat is wise and the snake is stupid.
2. To improve students’ understanding of the emotional state of the two characters.

VI. Teaching procedures
StepⅠ: Lead in
1. Sing a song
2. Guessing animals
(1) Describe the moves of a snake for students to guess.
(2) Ask students what snake can do .

设计意图:通过复习歌曲调动学生的积极性,复习旧知,通过猜测动物,引入了本文的主题也活跃了课堂气氛。

StepⅡ: Pre-reading
(1) Show the picture of the half of a mouse and ask students to guess before teaching rat
Ask students what is in the hand of the rat and show pictures of some delicious food and then introduce tasty food.
(2) Ask students some questions ① what happened between them? ②Are they good friends? ③Does the snake eat the rat finally?

设计意图:教授rat 和 tasty 这两个生词,为文本内容扫清词汇障碍;调动学生思考,大胆猜测故事。

StepⅢ: While-reading
1. Show picture1 and asks questions . ①How is the snake? ② What does the snake want to do? ③What’s the tasty food? ④ What’s the snake like in picture1?
2. Ask 3students to read as a happy and excited snake.
3. Show picture2 ans asks what the rat is doing and lead them to infer what the rat may say. Ask some students to guess before look at the book. Ask students what the rat is like.
4. Ask students to read as a sad and scared rat.
5. Ask students to read from picture 3 to 6 with 2 questions. ① What can the rat do? ② Can he swim?
6. Show picture5 and asks why the rat says no. Then ask students to discuss in groups. Finally, show the reason and introduce the word throw. Give examples of throwing rubbish.
7. Ask students “Does the snake eat the rat finally?”
8. Ask students their feelings for the snake and the rat.
9. Divide the story into 3 parts and ask students to choose one to act out.

设计意图:帮助学生梳理故事线索,发展脉络,弄清楚每一幅图中两个动物分别做了什么,让学生用文中人物的口吻朗读故事,增强学生情感体验。设下悬念问道老鼠会游泳吗从而揭示出老鼠的机智,调动了学生积极思考,大胆探索。在这个过程中,老鼠能做的不能做的事情一目了然,从而使人物特点十分鲜明。

Step IV: Post-reading
1. Work together with one student to retell the story according to the mindmap and then ask students to work in pairs to retell the story.
2. Lead students to imagine and talk about what will happen if the two animals meet again.

设计意图:让学生根据板书的思维导图进行复述活动,帮助学生再次梳理故事发展的脉络,培养学生良好的口语能力以及概括能力。让学生自由想象两个动物再次相遇会发生什么,给他们提供了支点,让他们大胆思考,想象,提高了孩子们的想象力,表达力。

StepV: Homework
1. Retell the story with your partner.
2. Think about what we can learn from the rat.

设计意图: 自由选择其中的一项作业,考虑到学生的自主性,开放性的思维得到了培养。

教学反思:
本课是五年级上册第四单元的故事课,这种课型偏向于阅读课和绘本课之间。第一,在本课中,我利用了课本的插图去讲述故事,带领孩子们推测故事。讲故事合理地分为几个部分,第一部分由我带领孩子们阅读,讲解,后面的一部分是孩子们自主阅读,带着问题和任务阅读,划重点,找答案。这种从由老师带读到放手让学生们自主阅读的方式,是我觉得比较成功的地方。
第二,我的教学中,很好利用了悬念的设置,去构成矛盾,制造矛盾,让学生找出根源,大胆探索,思考,表达,激发他们的积极性和表达欲望。
第三,让孩子们表演,朗读,让孩子们体会故事人物的情感色彩,丰富了他们的情感体验。
不足之处是,读后活动感觉不太创新,不够有趣。希望在未来的教学活动中,探索出更多的方式去丰富自己的教学体验,提高学生们的学习热情
